French Grammar & Expression
This is a level-one non-beginners module in French language (trimester 2). Students are most welcome to take this module even if they have not taken Level 1 French in the autumn trimester. This module builds on the basic communicative proficiency, language awareness and cultural awareness acquired through the Irish Leaving Certificate programme. We recommend that only students who have attained at least a H4 in Honours Leaving Certificate French (or the equivalent level) take this module. Focus is on consolidating general linguistic competence and developing the productive skills of speaking and writing French. The syllabus combines grammar revision, essay-writing, and oral work (presentation and conversation) with a range of authentic materials relating to contemporary French and Francophone culture. Online materials and supports will also be used. Students who have achieved at least a B grade in this module are deemed to have reached the CEFR level B1. This module is a core French language module: students must pass the module to progress to Level 2 French modules.

Wouldn't let me change the professor Angelique Ibanez aristondo taught it when I did it she used to change her mind about the quizzes a lot not the best with the slides as they were quite hard to go over
In practice
One lecture one tutorial when going over grammar points not too hard but quite unreliable for the quizzes they use to say one thing will be on it and then add loads more slides where quite hard to go back over when needing to look over topics
Advice
Really try get the grammar points down so you can count on the exam being ok cause the oral was quite hard to prepare for and do
Assessment & grading
Quizzes were unreliable and wouldn’t be on what they said a lot of the time as they would add loads of topics in and only tell you last minute oral quite hard as on a francophone country while other languages were talking about Erasmus or life in college exam was no where near as bad as the other stuff and actually pretty reasonable
Content & usefulness
Found it very hard to go back over topics as one week would be grammar and your next week would be a French speaking country and it was like that for the year wish it had been more similar to French grammar and comprehension which was a lovely module
